The snow has cleared, it’s March already and the cold, sunny mornings have brought a fresh start to Envirocare in more ways than one. During the recent staff appraisals everyone was advised of the allocation of a complete new set of tools and equipment for the start of the 2011 season. Each team will be issued with their own personal kit from protective gloves to brand new sprayers, blowers and strimmers. Secure lock ups with CCTV surveillance are provided and it is the responsibility of each team to look after, clean and store the equipment according to Envirocare’s procedure for care and maintenance of tools and equipment.
Mick Mann, Operations Manager is happy with the set up “It’s my responsibility to make sure the lads are well equipped and all tools and machinery are looked after and maintained. We have a strict maintenance programme on plant, equipment and vehicles and I will be carrying out inspections of all the tools as part of my routine site audits. The onus is on the staff to take care of and respect their equipment, the procedure we have put in place has been discussed with everyone and it has been well received.”
Ben Roxburgh, Envirocare’s Contract’s Manager is really positive about the start of the season “the right tools and equipment are an integral part of everyone’s work and by discussing and communicating ideas for the coming year with the staff team, I feel the approach to maintaining the tools and in turn the standard of our work, will be very positive. We have a full time plant and vehicle fitter who assists Mick with the inspections and supports the lads to look after their equipment. We have encouraged everyone to report breakages and malfunctions which will allow us to respond quickly to either repair or replace.”
