We do like our bikes here at Envirocare Grounds Maintenance and we have several super fit and very keen cyclists within our teams. You may remember our very own Director, Phil and company, taking part in The Christie Charity Event or our Operations Manager – Mick, cycling for Charity in the Manchester 100 mile bike ride. Joining their elite team – which we are now going to call “Envirocare’s Keen Cyclist Crew“, is Contract Sales Executive – Janet Nowland, who was up bright and early and ready to go, last Sunday to take part in the annual Lakeland Sportive event.
This wonderful 54.51 mile event runs through the beautifully scenic Southern Lake District – starting at Milnthorpe, the route took the cyclists through Grizedale Forest, up to Hawkshead and back alongside Lake Windermere. Janet added “Luckily, the weather behaved itself and gave us great cycling conditions and the views….wow! Utterly spectacular”.
With approximately 2,400 feet of climbing – it certainly isn’t for the faint hearted and yes, some might say that this seems minimal when you compare it to those who were undertaking the Cumbrian Sportive which took place on the same day, an event that has 6,300 feet of climbing over a 91 mile course! Surely, you would actually need to be Bradley Wiggins, in order to even consider competing? You never know…Janet, next year perhaps?!
Janet is over the moon with her performance and we are very proud of her – finishing mid field and bringing home her very own silver award – could we send a huge “well done” from all at Envirocare Grounds Maintenance.
